Many men struggle in silence—but they don’t have to. We offer connection, support, and hope through our local meetup. With suicide rates highest among men under 50, we stand together to break the silence and build strength through solidarity.
Lifting weights and lifting spirits.
Exercise is at the heart of what we do, but it’s always optional. Whether you want to work out or simply have a chat, you’ll find a community that cherishes support and camaraderie above all.

HEARTS
Move your body, clear your mind—exercise lifts mood, builds strength, and helps you feel better, inside and out.

MINDS
Real talk, real change—conversation connects us, eases stress, and builds resilience through honest, everyday meetups.
Why we do what we do
In 2024 there were more than five and a half thousand deaths by suicide in the UK. 74% were men and over 4,000 of those men were aged between 25 and 64. Construction workers and self-employed are shown to be at a greater risk of which there are 2.74 million in the UK.
77% of men polled have suffered with symptoms of common mental health conditions such as anxiety, stress or depression. 40% of men have never spoken to anyone about their mental health. 29% of those say they are too embarrassed to speak about it, while 20% feel there is negative stigma around the issue.
Current statistics show that 1 in 10 men grow up without male influence and ⅔ of people have lost a parent by the time they are 54.
24% of men aged 45 have experienced loneliness which jumps to 52% in the over 60’s. In an age of technology and connectedness, we are acutely more isolated than ever before.
Brothers In Arms aims to tackle these feelings of isolation, anger, stress, resentment and loneliness by holding weekly sessions where men are encouraged to attend for a cup of tea, a chat, some physical exercise, fun and support from each other. We’re committed to helping men build resistance, find support, and connect with other men who understand.
We are not a mental health group however the Phoenix Foundation has worked extensively and had great success with the benefits of physical movement and the improvement on mental health and this is incorporated into every session though not mandatory. We have found exercise strengthens, not just the body, but the mind too, improving cognitive function, improving mood and reducing stress.
There is no prerequisite to attend. You do not need a special skill set, a problem, need help or have a common interest to come along. Everyone is welcome as they are. Whether they are facing a specific challenge, want to prioritize their well-being, or simply want to connect with other men, they’re welcome. In time and with financial support, we aim to extend these sessions out to aid our local communities by providing the older generation with physical help, the younger generation with good role models, and a shoulder of support for anyone that needs one. There is no end to the possibilities that we can achieve together.
We believe in the power of connection and the power of movement – stronger together
